The USS "Pennsylvania" was the last full sail Ship built and commissioned by The US Navy. Launched in 1821, she was a massive 3,500 tons displaced, making her one of the largest in The World at the time. "Pennsylvania" was 210 feet long and stood 55 feet high. Featuring 140 guns of various poundage, she was a 3-Decker vessel. Her size classified her as a Ship of The Line. Over 1,100 Officers and Men crewed her. Not actively engaged in Naval warfare, The USS "Pennsylvania" was part of The Atlantic Squadron. By 1861 (and the start of The Civil War), she was scuttled and burnt by The US Navy to prevent her falling into Rebel hands.
