First deployed in 1963, The ''Benjamin Franklin''-Class was a US Naval Submarine Warfare platform during The Cold War. One of the first Classes of American Subs to be renovated for pressure depth withstanding (building on The USS ''Thresher'' Tragedy). (12) such Submarines were deployed with several US Fleet. The Class was powered by a single Nuclear Reactor and (2) Twin Turbines capable of creating 15,000-HP). Speed was rated to 18-mph on the surface and 24 below. Crewed by 125 Officers and Men, The ''Benjamin Franklin''-Class displaced 7,300-tons. The Class was 425-feet long with a Beam of 33-feet. Armament included (16) ICBM (several version). The Ship also deployed with (13) 21-inch Torpedoes. The Class was officially decommissioned by The US Navy in 2002.
