The ''Thorakitai'' were an Ancient Greek Military Formation seen starting in the 2nd Century BC. They would be comparable to 18th Century Cuirassiers. These Soldiers were well armored often augmented by early forms of Chain Mail. They used an Oval shield (known as The Thureos) and were skilled with Sword and Javelin. They were used mostly as ''Breaching'' Units, assigned to exploiting openings in Enemy Fortifications. Trained to be Runners, The Thorakitai were also used to cover short distances with speed and are also considered an early example of ''Mobile'' or ''Light'' Infantry.
