Known as Suleiman The Magnificent, he was the Sultan and Leader of The Ottoman Empire (1520-66). Known for his voracious military appetites, he invaded much of Central Europe. His assaults of the Island of Malta against The Crusaders was legendary. His blade, (of the Shamshir class), is roughly 38-inches long and is single-edged. A plain cross guard (gold plated) tops a precious stone encrusted handle and grip. The scabbard is made of wood and leather, also adorned with precious stone. Suleiman's Sword is currently on display at The Topkapi Museum, Istanbul, Turkey.
