General George Washington was Commander of The Continental Armies of The United States, during The American Revolutionary War (1775-1781). He would also become the first US President of The United States. While leading his Armies in war, he carried this somewhat simple standard Infantry Officers Sword. The blade is 37-inches long and features a silver cross-hilt and plate to protect the hand. The handle is ivory, wrapped in green velvet. Although made in America, it's maker was John Bailey (a well known and established sword maker living in The Colonies). His sword is kept at The Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C.
