Dating to the 13th Century AD, The Cologne Fechtbuch was a well regarded training manual for The Art of The Sword and it's application in combat. It was created by several Swordsmanship Schools in Cologne, Germany – with the overall Author being unknown. The text, which was hand drawn, colored and press printed in later examples, taught the proper ''German School'' principles of swordsmanship and other hand to hand weapons related tactics. The work consisted of (5) parts. These dealt with The Sword, Messer, Dagger, Grappling and Spear. The Fechtbuch was the dominate training tool for German Swordsman until the 16th Century.
