Widely used as a Supporter on Arms, The Swam was another “ancient” symbol on Shields. Going back to the 12th Century in many Countries, their color was varied and used to denote attribute (sometimes). Often referred to as a “Cygnet”, they are often associated with the trait of “Fierceness” and “Grace”. The Swan was also used in conjunction with Religious Symbolism.
