This weapon and it's related classes were between 28 and 33 inches in blade length. A light and versatile weapon, they were very popular during The Crusades. They were excellent cutting and thrusting weapons. Although effective, the blade had a flaw of breakage against reinforced plate armor. The advent of tempered steel, Wootz or Damascus steel increased the weapons durability and strength.
