A coin used in The Middle Ages, The Sterling dates to the Post-Norman Conquest. Seen around the 12th Century until the early 14th Century, it “migrated” into Germany and many Low Countries. It's 1.46 gram weight and general quality engraving, made it acceptable for “international” usage. It also was associated with a standard measurement for Silver coinage in Luxembourg.
