The Spadroon was a light sword seen in the 1790s throughout Europe. This type of sword was popular among Naval and Land forces Officers. They were especially popular in England and France. They would also become adopted by The US. The blade length was 33-inches long and they featured a single-edge. The tip and mid-blade portion of the sword was more slender than a standard sword - flanging outwards as the blade extended back towards the handle. The Spadroon featured a "D" guard hand protector. It was sometimes called "The Five Ball" sword, due to the decorative metal balls incorporated into the "D" guard. Examples of this sword are still in existence (as a ceremonial blade), today.
