The Heraldic term ''Slogan'' is often confused with the related ''Motto'' (found on The Banneroll of most arms and Crests). In reality, a Slogan is different and most often credited with usage in Scotland. Dating to 1513 AD, The Slogan was placed above The Crest or Shield (Arms), in a Banneroll (Scroll), and was a ''Battle Cry'' or related ''Heroic'' saying. Associated with The Clan Wars and later Scottish Wars of Independence, most found on modern Scottish Arms are related to those Eras.
