The Remembrancer was was Officer of The Exchequer, whose function was to personally collect debts owned to a Sovereign. Duplicated on a local Government level, The City Remembrancer would collect monies owed to a City, Town or sometime Village. On this level, they were “approved of” first by a Lord.
