10,000 such Portuguese Guedes Rifles were used by Boer Forces in The 2nd Boer War. The 8mm was a small caliber in minor usage by some Armies of The World, and was not overtly popular. The Boer were desperate for Arms, so some were seen in the field. Roughly 7-pounds in weight with a maximum effective range of 1,200-yards. A Bottlenecked, Full Metal Jacketed round, each round was single loaded from the breech. The Guedes Version was somewhat a copy of the much more popular British Martini-Henri Rifle.
