The ''Paegniarius'' were a specialized form of Fighter that were actually not considered Gladiators. These ''Fighters'' were tasked with performing mini ''battles and fights'' in-between main Gladiatorial Bouts. The Paegnisrius did not wear Armor, but wrapped their arms and legs in heavy cloth or linen as protection (and at times, not even this!). They also used far less lethal weaponry. In short, their goal was not to ''kill each other'', but maintain the ''pitch'' of The Crowds. Most such Fighters lived normal life spans.
