The only Norwegian Order still awarded, The Order of St. Olav was founded in 1847. Original created for “military merit”, it is awarded to both Men and Women. The use of the Rank “Chevalier” is different from most Knightly Orders (although they do use Knight Commander, Knight, Dame, etc). A White Cross with Lion on a Blue Field is their insignia.
