The term ''Miquelet'' is an oft confusing descriptive which is applied to a Class of Fighting Force which was in short - Mercenary. These ''Companies'' or ''Armies'' (common to Spain and Portugal) were available to those wealthy enough to hire Them. They were fond of the use of Matchlock or early Flintlock weapons (particularly Braces of Pistols). When deployed in such 18th Century Engagements as The Spanish War of Succession (and others), Miquelets were used as ''Shock Troops''. The Force were also noted Mountain Fighters.
