Another lesser form of Roman Military punishment, Militiae Mutatio was the practice of making transgressing  Soldiers, perform "demeaning" or "inferior" duties as a form of punishment. This could be anything from removal and burial of Enemy dead, to cleaning animal Stables. The practice of Militiae Mutatio did not extend to Rome's Auxillia. The length of "demeaning work" lasted as long as was needed (or determined), by a Commander.
