In it's MANY versions, one of the most popular of Heraldic Beasts. Primarily reserved for Royalty, some other “lesser” Lion versions were used. In the Royal instance, it imparted and “Courage, Strength and Power” (much as the real animal). Dubbed “King of The Beasts”, the Lion has been used as an Imperial image for Centuries before (and after), The Middle Ages. Coloring of The Lion image is always done in it's “natural form”. Also in Royal cases, The Lion is always alert and erect (never reclining or sitting).
