A Military Formation within The American Continental Army during The Revolutionary War with Great Britain, ''Lee's Legion'' was formed and commanded by American Soldier and Politician Richard Henry Lee of Virginia (aka ''Light Horse Harry''). Lee was a well known Horseman and was instrumental in advancing The ''Declaration of Independence'' (by which America declared it's freedom as a Colony of England).
The Legion was comprised of 180 Infantry and 100 Cavalry. They were at first attacked to The 1st Continental Light Dragoons from 1776 to 1778. Working independently, they were deployed in South Carolina to harass The British Army under Lord Cornwallis. They also joined famed Guerrilla Francis Marion ''The Swamp Fox'' in 1781. The Legion would disband in 1783 with the end of The War.
