Ancient in myth (from Greece), The Lamia (in their culture) – was portrayed as a Half-Woman, Half-Serpent Demon. In Medieval Heraldry, it was different. Shown with the body of a Lion, Head and Breasts of a Human Woman, it's appendages “varied” from Human to Goat! Seen in the 14th and 15th Century on Arms, The Lamia was though to impart a “Dual Nature” to things.
