Another widely recognized form of Medieval protective head gear. This simple "hat" was constructed from a single piece of metal or iron. Fashioned with an extra wide metal brim, this was actually the only real form of protection The Kettle gave (from overhead sword blows). First seen in the late 11th Century, The Kettle was used by many armies throughout Europe. Favored by Archers and Spearmen, they continued in use (in one form or another) until the 16th Century.
