Another iconic piece of Japanese militaria, The Sen Bou Cap was designed in 1932. Made of soft cloth material, it was a peaked cap. Designed to be worn both in the field and off duty, is was brown/khaki in color. The Imperial Army Star (in both metal or cloth), was affixed to it's front. The Sen Bou also included a leather chinstrap. Designed for hot weather, The Sen Bou also featured a version which had a cloth neck Protector called a Bou Tare. The could be extended over the wearers neck and side if his head to keep The Sun off. The Sen Bou was also used as an impromptu Helmet liner. They were worn into combat.
