The Title of ''Ason'' was relative to various High-ranking Noble Houses (or Clans), which existed from the 7th to 9th Century AD in Early Medieval Japan. In Imperial ''Court Ranking'', The Ason was similar to that of ''Prince'' (but not a Regent or Presumptive Heir). In the 11th Century AD, The Ason was merged into The Title of ''Kabane'', which was used to identify Imperial Court Courtiers.
