The Italian made Model 18 105mm Obice 14 was a Field Howitzer first fielded in 1920. It would continue in Service with The Italian Army until the end of World War II (1945). Towed by horse, The Model 18 would be used (briefly), by German (Allied) Forces stationed in Italy as late as 1943. Somewhat cumbersome, Germany adopted a ''Towed'' System (motorized). Weighing close to 3,000-lbs, The Model 18 had a 5-inch barrel and could propel a 35-lb. Shell over 8,000-yards. Having a 70-degree elevation rate, The Model 18 could deploy 5 to 8-rpm.
