Devised by Imperial Russian to honor specific Ships that had distinguished themselves in battle during the then on-going Russo-Turkish War (1827-1829), this Ensign was considered a "Battle Award". The Ensign featured an all White Field. Superimposed over it's entirety, was the Blue Flag of St. Andrews. Centered on the Cross wad the full color personal Crest of The Tsar of Russia (which was the image of St. George on horseback, trampling The Dragon). The first Russian Warship so awarded The Honor Ensign, was the Ship of The Line. "Asov", in 1827. It's general display stopped being seen in the 1840s.
