The process of Impalement with regards to Heraldry, involves the placing 2 Coats of Arms – side by side, on the same Shield. Unlike Marshaling (which was usually reserved for Funerals), BOTH Coats of Arms or placed together. This was a popular form for married Nobility to display a single Coat of Arms. In some cases, a Husbands Office Title Arms were included (often at the bottom). This “Triangle Coat” was popular in Family Bibles and over Manoral Libraries of large Family dwelling.
