A unique design in personal battlefield protection, The Hungarian Shield was first seen around the 13th Century and would carry forward (mostly unchanged), for about 300 years. Within the same family as The Kite Shield, the Hungarian version was rectangular at the bottom and swept upwards into a curve. The longer edge was designed to protect the neck from cavalry sword thrusts. This design would become popular among several Muslin Nations as well.
