Early in Chain Mail development - The Haulbert, which featured a Chain Mail “shirt”, was especially designed to be long. Extending to the mid thigh for protection, Hauberk's provided limited protection to the waist and upper thigh (from slash strikes). Seen around the 9th through the early 14th Century in most of Europe, The Hauberk would die out in use around this period. Hauberk variations were still in use by some Eastern (Asian) Armies well into the late 16th and 17th Centuries.
