The use and development of Combat Vehicles known as “Gun Trucks” can be traced to World War I and Armored Cars. Used by most Combatants of that Conflict, these were lightly to heavily Armored Vehicles which were similar to a Truck. Side plating was installed into the rear bed of these Vehicles, to protect the deployment of Machine Guns and small Cannon (as well as their Gun Crews). These Vehicles could be used to guard Road Crossing, Bridges and related. In time, any heavy classed vehicle could be used as a Gun Truck. During World War II and The Korean War, such Combat Vehicles were often adapted into Gun Platforms. Today, many Countries use Gun Trucks along with Forward Deployed Infantry and Scout Units.
