Meaning ''Newt'' The ''Molch'' was a German World War II Midget Submersible vessel used briefly during World War II. Over 300 were produced between 1944 and 1945. The ''Molch'' was a fully electric Vessel which was created for strictly Coastal Operations. The Class was roughly 20-feet long and crewed by a single Pilot. The weapons package was (2) G7e Torpedoes. The ''Molch'' Class of Midget Submarines were not very dependable, with more casualties than expected. Over 70 were lost initially in combat operation in The Mediterranean Sea. Later, The ''Molch'' was used strictly as a training ship for more advanced and dependable Midget Class Submersibles.
