Created in 2010, The German Combat Action Medal is awarded to all Members of The German Armed Forces, who have been in direct combat actions against ''terrorist activities''. If a German service Member is killed by such actions, He or She can still be awarded The Medal. Trhe Medal is awarded only once and there are no additional claps or device for multiple awards. It is comparable in some regards to The American ''Purple Heart'' Medal.
The Device is a circular award in Gold. The Front bears The Federal (German) Eagle (outlined in Black). The perimeter of The Medal bears Black Gold and Red striping (The German National Colors). The Rear of the Device is plain. The Ribbon in a Red Field with Black and Gold Stripes placed on the front. A small Medal clasp is attached to the Ribbon face which reads ''Combat''.
