Similar to a small Arming Sword, The Gauche was a companion sidearm to a Cutlass. Blades were 20-inches long and double-edged. Featuring an up turned hand guard bar (used for sword capture and parrying techniques), The Gauche also featured a small grip with an over large Pommel/Roundel (for striking). Some version featured a triangular shaped (3-sided blade) – similar to the Medieval Misericorde Blade. They were carried in small scabbards, boots or behind one's back.
