Developed in France around 1916. The fighter was nicknamed “Bebe” by it's Pilots. Small, it's combat abilities outmatched the German Fokkers. A single seater, The Nieuport 11 was 20 feet long with a (multi) wingspan of 25 feet. Capable of a speed of 97 miles per hours, The Nieuport had a 15,000 foot operational ceiling. Armed with a Lewis .303 caliber Machine Gun, she was very popular with many of France's Allies. Whole Squadrons were identified as “Fokker Scourge's”. Although reliable, she was made into a Trainer for the duration of the War (in lieu of the Sopwith imports from England).
