Emmett Dalton was a founding member of the infamous Dalton Gang, which terrorized Kansas in the 1880s and 1890s. He was one of the few survivors of the Coffeyville, Kansas Robbery. The Dalton Gang attempted to rob 2 banks in one day. Much planning was put into the effort. However, banks were starting to learn about better security having survived the likes of The Cole Younger and James Gangs (to name just a few).
When The Daltons attempted their ill-fated robberies, not only was Law Enforcement ready (so were the citizens of the Town). 4 members of the Gang were killed and Emmett was hit 23 times! Incredibly, he survived and was imprisoned for only 14 years. Paroled, Emmett cashed in on his “fame” of being one of the last surviving “Old West” bank robbers (and a member of The Dalton Gang, of course).
He had a brief career in Hollywood. He also wrote a best selling book on The Dalton Gang. Emmett used many weapons in his criminal career, but was fond of his .45 Caliber 6-inch Double Action Colt Revolver. It was noted for it's mother of pearl handles.
