Dame (Title)

This title of respect (given to any woman admitted to any Order of Chivalry) – is still used in those Countries which still convey the honor. In The Middle Ages, “Dame” had the same meaning as “Lord” and often meant the woman was the “Head” of a Noble House. The term also was used to identify the wife of a Knight, Squire or Yeoman. It also some usage for Cloistered Nuns.
