The Flag of The Confederate Army of Tennessee, was one of the first Flags designed and raised in The Western Theater of The American Civil War of 1861-1865. First formed in 1862, famed Confederate General Simon Boliver Buckner was said to have designed it himself. It first saw "battle" during The Defense of Fort Donelson, Tennessee. The Flag was described as being a Blue Field in it's entirety. "Off Centered", was placed an oval pattern with a Black monogram stating the numerical identifier and the wording "Tenn" (for The State of Tennessee). Some versions were bordered in either White fabric or Gold fringe. It would remain in use for the entirety of The War. It earned the nickname "The Moon Flag", used by both Union and Confederate Forces.
