Adopted by The Confederacy in 1863, The ''Stainless Banner'' (also known as The ''2nd National Flag'') featured a miniature Confederate Battle Flag in the upper left quadrant of the flag. The remainder of the flag was white. The common problem with this version was that in a windless environment – it resembled a Flag of Truce or Surrender. It still would serve as a Government Flag (unofficially) until the end of the war. It was replaced (more or less), in early 1865 by The Blood Stained Banner.
