Dating to perhaps the 3rd Century AD and The Zhou Dynasty – very little is known concerning what is called ''5 Colors'' Armor. Few Art representations exist and only s few stone statuary pieces exist. What is known of the exotic Armor, is that it was regulated for use only by The Imperial Bodyguard of Emperor Shi Hu. The components were said to have been constructed of different heat treated and burnished (as well as highly polished). The polishing and burnishing techniques would produce brilliant and vibrant colors when exposed to direct sunlight. It is highly doubtful such Armor was adopted for direct combat due to the time it took to make and of course, the cost.
