Somewhat of a rarity in Heraldry, The Celestial Crown may be traced back to around the 14th Century AD. It is also claimed to be a modification of The Eastern Crown (from Heraldry seen in The Mediterranean Region). Middle Eastern versions date to 5th Century AD in Art and are most associated with The Virgin Mary. Some Religious Orders and Religious Educational Institutions used The Celestial Crown in their Coat of Arms. Gold in color, The Crown a series of elongated Spires or Extensions which encircle the Top of The Crown. These are normally topped by Stars. Most often, The Stars are Silver or Pearl in color. The Actual Crown is shown in Gold or Silver – rarely with any jewels or other adornments.
