Founded in 1861, The Order was established by Queen Victoria, and had a traditional Ranking structure (Knights Commander, etc). Designed to confer status to serving Officers in India (during the many Wars and Revolts), the insignia of The Order is multiple Lotus Flowers with Royal Coronet (Crown). 5-pointed Star device is used to denote the “higher” Rank within The Order. Although still in existence, The Order had not been awarded since 1947.
