The British Avro 523 ''Pike'' Multi-Purpose Fighter was an early attempt by England to develop a Fighter aimed at attacking Germany Airships, posing a threat to England. The result was The ''Pike'' by The Avro Aircraft Company. The Fighter was also envisioned to be used as a Recon and Mid-Range Bomber. Evaluated by The British War Ministry in 1916, only (2) prototypes were created – with neither being selected for combat use in World War I. The 523 was 40-feet long with a Bi-Wing length of 60-feet. Flown by (3), The ''Pike'' was powered by Twin Nubian Engines, each capable of 160-HP. Airspeed was rated to 97-mph. The 523 was envisioned to carry 200-lbs of Ordnance and support a wide variety of Mounted Machine Guns.
