A Spear-like weapon of the 14th/15th Centuries, this was a member of the Pole Arm family. Sometimes referred to as "The Feather Staff", it's head was a metal three-spiked device which was retractable. The trio of slender blades would slide into a hollow aperture in the top of the staff. Gravity activated, a thrusting motion would activate the head - shooting outwards (and locking). The staff would be 5 to 6 feet long. The blades could measure up to 1 foot. No effective against armor, they were best suited against leather and some forms of chain mail. They were popular in Italy for a time.
