The Bavarian Model 1855 Cavalry Saber was the standard issued weapon for most Mounted Units, not only in Bavaria, but other Germanic Nations. Featuring the “innovative” and more effective “B”-Guard (so named for the shape of the Hilt Guard as the Letter “B”), it provided some protection as well as gave more mobility and handling by the User. A more slender blade, the Model 1855 was a single-edged blade with a slight curve. Measuring 38-inches, they were light (3-pounds), and very popular with Cavalry and Lancer Units.
