A Baroness was a Noble Lady who – by marriage, wed a Titled Baron. Her Title, “Baroness” could also be held if she was the last surviving member of a Noble Family (who held that Rank). The Title is similar in responsibilities to a Duchess (Wife of a Duke). The Title was seen more in many Germanic Nations, than that of England and Scotland (but some were known to exist) – having married into English Titled Families and retaining their hereditary Title.
