A Welsh Flag dating back to the 6th Century AD – it was associated with The Patron Saint of Wales, St. David (Bishop of Menevia). Known as the “Baner Dewi Sant” locally, it was once thought to have been flown over Anglican Churches in that Country. Used interchangeably with Wales “Dragon” Flag, for a period, The Banner of St. David was seen as a “Patriotic” Emblem. Still used occasionally today, The Banner is a Black Field in it’s entirety. A Gold  (sometimes Yellow) Cross is placed over the Field, quartering The Banner.
