This process is the removing of one's Arms (as in a forfeiture). Such acts were rare, but did happen. The English Civil War was a prime example of Arms “removed” from former Royal and Noble Holders. Between 1453 and 1504, over 300 Arms Attainders were reversed. By 1870, the complete Act was removed from practice.
