Prior to the invention of The Self-Propelled Cannon (or Gun), Artillery was deployed on the fields of World War I with the help of The Artillery Tractor. Basically, this vehicle was designed along the same lines as Agricultural vehicles of The Era. Stronger engines and reinforced frames were introduced. Germany (among the first), created various heavily armored plated tractors for use. In some variants, specialized multi-wheeled tractors were created. On average, an Artillery Tractor could make 8 miles per hour. Unfortunately, in case of larger caliber or “Superguns” - MANY Artillery Tractor were employed (as many as 8) to move some models.
