A starting position, The Ready Guard or Schrankhut, is also a position of alert. The positioning of The Blade is such that it is put point down (ground), and extended away from the Swordsman at 2 to 3-feet. The hand grip is the actual movement. The Right hand is inverted in it's Grip on The Handle, with the Left Hand Hand placed above on the Pommel (concealing it). The position allows a Swordsman to quickly move from The Ready Guard to either a Low or Mid-Block or Guard Position.
