In Aztec (Mesoamerican) Mythology – ''Tonatiuh'' was seen as God of ''The Sun at Day'' (or it's passage or movement from The East). This movement needed to be supplied with daily Ritual and Human Sacrifice – lest Tonatiuh ''stop in The Sky'' and unset the course of The Heavens. He was also related to the dreaded ''Quetzalcoatl''.
