A formula that is said to grant immortality, the concept of an ''Elixir of Life'' is traced to both Ancient India and China. By the1st Century AD, the idea had taken root in Europe, mostly in the form of related Alchemy practices. Every Culture has an origins and ingredient ''story'', mostly consisting of various herbals and magical spells to achieve the end result. The later European comparison of ''The Fountain of Youth'' and ''Water of Life'' are both seen as deriving from The so-called Elixir. Some cite that the elusive ''Philosopher Stone'' in Alchemy, ''produces'' (as an after effect) the fabled liquid. Most point to The Elixir of Life as a literary ''cautionary tale'' only. However, through the Centuries, many Nations have actually committed great resources in determining IF such a ''formula'' existed (Spain and China in the 15th Century AD in particular.
